Maleficent- The Kiss of True Love

I was watching the movie Maleficent for the first time, the other day. The movie revolves around the love story of Maleficent, a superpower lady and her love for a man, who however, betrays her. Maleficent in a spat of anger over his betrayal, curses his girl child which he has with the Queen of the Kingdom 'to be pricked by a needle on her 16th birthday, fall asleep and never wake up again.'

But Maleficent realises her mistake and takes back her curse and says that the little new born baby will wake up from such curse only by the Kiss of True Love.

At this point of the movie , I totally thought that this is another Sleeping Beauty like fairy tale where the little princess will, of course, fall in love with some Prince and the curse will be taken aback.

But, I'm surprised by the climax as the Princess doesn't wake up by the kiss of the Prince who, everyone like me, thought to be her True Love. Maleficent who hated the child at her birth, had started loving her, so much so that her affection resembled as if the little princess was her own daughter!

And thus, what you get to see is that the little princess wakes up by the kiss of True Love of Maleficent and not the Prince ... for true love need not be only the romantic one...it could be the true love of a mother, of a father, of siblings or even of true friends..

Love ought to be true...honest..sincere...be it as a friend or a lover or parent...
I was pretty much moved by this movie and I believe what they tried to tell me was so enriching..

Often, we tend to give importance to romantic love over all other relationships..I believe we need to maintain honesty and sincerity towards everyone who deserve our true love and attention; not just limited to the romantic partner.

How I discovered the awesome vocalist, Gayathri Asokan

Every year for holidays we used to goto our native village in Kerala and it is a real, underdeveloped village where we stay..away from all technologies..so the only source of entertainment there was the songs played by the Ayyappa temple right in front of our ancestral home.

The first song to be played every morning and evening was "Deena Dayalu Rama". Initially I was uninterested..but with every passing day I started loving the song so much that I learnt the entire lyrics and was deeply in love with the female voice.

After 30 days of summer vacation when we left back for Pune, I knew the first thing I wanted to do was find out who is the female singer of "Deena Dayalu"!!
Internet was still a far away for me,so all I would entire day was keep swapping Malayalam channels to find out who actually sang it!!

And finally I saw! My brother and I watched your interview and we were so elated when you said that your initially learning of Hindustani classical music is from Pune!! You were already a Star for us..we followed every song, interview and program which featured you..

Though, curriculum and office have kept us busy for these years, we still never fail to discuss how much we adore this beautiful singer with an adorable smile and twinkling eyes, Gayathri Asokan :):) and we still follow all her songs..

Dear Gayathri ji, you are amazing..your recent ghazals with Times music are so beautiful.. please do continue making wonderful songs for us.. we'll always be following it!❤

Here is one of her latest Ghazal for Times Music, "Suna Hai Log" :-

A Girl

I've always hated when people pointed out and said that "She is so manly" just because..
' If a girl would stand upright for her rights..
if she wouldn't be afraid or scared of a supposed-to-be frightening thing..
if she is not graceful and fails your catwalk tests..
if her love for cricket and football is more than make-up kits..
If she loves blues and yellows and not a pink..
If she has no gender bias whilst befriending people around..
If she has short hair and careless about them..leaves them ruffled..
If she doesn't cry for little things and fights her way out of it..
If she laughs her lungs out and not be shy to show her teeth..
If she doesn't display her sensitivity and emotional rollercoaster in public and prefers to keep them in her private, oblivion space..'
It's perfectly ok. That's Her choice. She is still a Girl. With a Strong Mind. And A Loving Heart. Supported by Rationale and Intelligence.

Review of Mix Tape of Shreya Ghoshal with T- Series > Sunn Raha hai and Rozana

https://youtu.be/z65MTQQjgjg

How to Slay....a lesson by Queen Shreya Ghoshal:-

Before I even move on to express my happiness and gratitude to Shreya for this mixtape, I take a bow at her allure...she is pulling off a Yellow colour Indian attire like an Empress..I really loved the set too..all those lovely colours around her while she stands tall with her impeccable beauty... just amazed.!

Picking up the right songs while performing for this mixtape was important; she must've had a tough time..it had to be her best of the songs, something that has touched her listeners..moreover,it had to be Solo..!

Sunn Raha hai had to be there, it's her favourite and ours too..which was the that second song which had the same Royalty and finesse...?

Rozana was one latest song which has made a special place in our hearts.. how well Shreya knows us is amazing.!

Some mind blowing instruments to start off with and an effortless, brilliant vocal dynamic acrobat by Shreya is all you need for a great beginning!

The blending and fusion of these two honey dipped , sugar coated tunes is outstanding..not once you actually know that they are two different songs Totally.! Blame it on her flair and range..she displays her class, her mesmerizing magic..all you need to do is just sit back and wonder...how could someone be so surreal...so ethereal... so so Unreal...?

A few lines are so special.. especially when she sings "manzile..and tere haathon k.." Not to forget the goosebumps one experiences while hearing "Yaaraa.."

She carries a happy face throughout the video..she's enjoying, grooving..and so are all the other musicians and chorus members...such a mirthful sight to watch when the ones performing are enjoying themselves..

It's the most beautiful five minutes of your day when you play this mixtape..thanks to Shreya Ghoshal, the other musicians and T-Series for this brilliant concept.
